Videos - Andy Singing and Emily Crawling

My First attempt at posting videos... Here's one of Emily's first night starting to crawl (or scoot) forward!

And here is one of Andy singing - well, kind of singing, the mother's day song for the moms....

Mom's Days

It's Mother's Day today, but I've already had a few special days to remember. On Thursday, Andy's school had a Mom's Day where they sang songs, listened to stories about moms, and had special snacks with us. It was very fun, and I was so proud to see Andy up there. Andy also gave me a plant with a decorated pot that he made.

Andy is in the bright blue shirt (on purpose so Jack and I could find him quickly!)

Yesterday, I drove up to Door County to run in the Half Marathon at Peninsula State Park. It was an AWESOME race - beautiful course (all through the park with great views of the lake, running through the woods), beautiful weather (50's and sunny), and a great race to be in after taking 2 years off. Funny thing - when I got home, Andy gave me a big hug and this was our conversation:
Andy, "Mommy did you get 1st place?"
Me, "Nope"
Andy, "Did you get second place?"
Me, "No, but I got this cool medal for finishing!"
Andy, "Wow, that's cool that they even give medals when you lose. They must have had zillions of medals to give people."

Blunt, but true :) And even though I definitely did not win, I was very happy with my time (1:51:27, 22/124 in my division, 83/728 of women) Faster than when I ran a half at age 22 and a hillier course too! Next race, I'm going to definitely try to get under 1:50. It was actually very fun to have a solo day on my own, but if anyone is interested in a wonderful half marathon, next year's is on May 5!

I'm trying to upload a couple of videos - one of Emily crawling and one of Andy singing at Mom's Day, but they are taking forever, so it will be a different post if it works! Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there :)

Emily's Weekend in Delafield

While we were in Denver, Emily got to spend some quality time with Grandma and Grandpa Graham in Delafield. She has never been the center of attention for that long before - I'm sure she loved it! Emily got to spend some time outside, learn how to sit up on her own, and just hang out. She got her first tooth over the weekend, so I'm afraid her sleeping at night wasn't the best. My mom took some great pictures of her... here they are!

Just tonight, Emily started crawling! It's kind of an army crawl, with her tummy on the ground. She was sliding forward to reach a box of baby wipes. As I would move the box away, she'd keep going for it. So, in one night, our lives just got a little bit more difficult at home! Anything on the floor is fair game for her now :)

Colorado Trip - Wedding, Hiking, and More

Andy, Jack, Chris, and I took a great trip to Colorado for an extended weekend. The main reason we were there was for Chris' sister Sarah's wedding to Aaron, but we also visited with friends, saw the mountains in Estes Park, did a lot of hiking, and more! The wedding was beautiful and we are so happy for Sarah and Aaron. The kids are very excited to get to know their new Uncle Aaron. The wedding was on Sunday at the Denver Museum of Science and Nature. The boys especially loved the location, since they got to see some really cool exhibits, including the Space exhibits. The food was delicious (especially the cake!!) and it was so nice seeing family that we haven't seen a long time. I didn't get tons of pictures at the wedding, but tried to take a few.

In the days before the wedding, we also had a lot of fun. We left on Thursday morning, after leaving Emily with Grandma and Grandpa Graham (she had fun getting all the attention there - to be posted in another post). The boys were AWESOME travelers. We spent Thursday evening and night at our friends Sara and Tom's house. The boys played with Courtney and Emily all evening and the next morning. They had a blast, and it was so nice to catch up with Sara again (my college roommate).

On Friday we headed to Estes Park. The mountains were awesome to drive through - the boys were impressed. We completed a hike to Copeland Falls It was VERY snowy, pretty cold, but we made it! We got some dinner in Estes Park that night and the boys swam for a long time in the pool. Chris and I switched off in the hot tub, which felt so nice after being out in the cold weather.

We completed 2 hikes in Boulder - Red Rocks, which was a perfect hiking trail for the boys. Not too long, not too steep, but lots of fun rocks to climb on. We also hiked some of the Flatirons trails. That was more of a mountain climb, through some woods, across some boulders. The weather was MUCH better in Boulder than it was in Estes Park. About 20-30 degrees warmer, no snow, no wind, and sunny!

We also had a nice dinner with the wedding families on Saturday. We had fun swimming in the Denver hotel pool, although it was pretty chilly. The trip home was uneventful. Everything on time, happy but tired kids. We were excited to see Emily in Delafield (she learned how to sit on her own and she got her first tooth over the weekend!) and we were excited to see Bailey once we got back to Neenah. It's been a long week so far trying to get back into the swing of things. But we had such a wonderful trip, celebrating the marriage of Sarah and Aaron, visiting with family and friends, hiking with the boys, and so much more. We're already thinking of a trip back in 2 years when we will bring Emily too!
