So, summer was awesome... and now we are back to school again! Andy in third, Jack in first, and Emily in half day 4K. So far so good on the new year back at school. The kids have no big complaints - which is a great sign! Andy and Jack just miss seeing each other at recess (they used to have recess together - now grades 3 and 4 go out at a different time than K-2). Andy has been chosen as the boy from his class that will be on the student advisory board that meets with his principal each month to brainstorm ideas to make the school better. He continues to LOVE to read. Jack only has 19 kids in his class, which is so nice! He is really starting to like reading. And he continues to love to come up with good stories for writer's workshop. Emily's 3 hours per morning are perfect for her. She loves centers and playing outside. There are a couple of little girls that she is getting to know better. And she enjoys taking the bus home each day. I will be starting to help out in all 3 of the kids' classes in the morning, one day per week for each of them. I'm really excited to get to know their teachers and to get to see them with their friends.
Summer included a camping trip for 3 nights with our good friends from Neenah, the Meylinks, multiple Door County trips, a trip back to Neenah to go to the pool, go to parks and see friends, trips to the Zoo, a visit from Aunt Sarah, Emily and Elizabeth's birthday celebration, trips to Great America, and more! I played in a Muskego tennis rec league and did a lot of road biking, Chris went on his annual CO hiking trip, and we all enjoyed the relaxed schedule of summer. But, routine is a good thing and back-to-school September went so smoothly. All of the kids are playing soccer (Andy on a U9 league and E & J in a weekly park & rec practice session), so that is keeping us busy. We just spent a fun weekend in Madison - exploring downtown, running a kids' fun run at the zoo, and going to a UW Volleyball game.
Well, I'll post a bunch of pictures. That will show a lot more of what we have been up to! The kids are just wonderful to spend time with, and they truly are best friends with each other. I'll try to keep up with this blog better! Maybe a goal of once a week :) We've got a fun October coming up!
