Maui Vacation Recap

Chris and I just spent a week in Maui - our favorite tropical paradise (actually, the only one we've been to!) Some highlights from the trip: On Sunday, we went snorkeling and then Chris cheered on the Steelers as they won a very close Superbowl. (I spent the time out on the beach, coming back for the last 10 minutes of the game. No way was I going to miss a day outside getting some sun!) On Monday we went to another beach to boogie board and took a little hike out to a rocky part of the island. Tuesday was rainy so we shopped a little and just hung out. Wednesday was the best day - we went kayaking out on the ocean with sea turtles, about 150 spinner dolphins swimming right along with us, and whales (mom and baby, a little too close for comfort!) We also got to snorkel with the sea turtles after we were done kayaking. It was awesome - unfortunately we did not get pics, because our camera would have gotten too wet. But to see those dolphins literally 5 feet from our kayak and doing jumps in the air in front of us was absolutely amazing!!! The sea turtles were very friendly and huge to swim with! They look just like the cartoon turtles (Finding Nemo or Kung Fu Panda). On Wednesday night, unfortunately, Chris got kind of sick, he thinks he might have had food poisoning. So we just hung out on Thursday near our hotel - at the beach and pool. Friday was a drive on the Road to Hana to see some awesome waterfalls and find a great beach with huge waves for Boogie boarding. One of my other favorite parts of the trip was our nice dinner out on Friday night to Ruth's Chris restaurant since we so rarely get to go out to a fancy restaurant with just us. Saturday, our flight was leaving very late, but we spent the whole day outside at the beach cabana and snorkeled some more. Throughout the week, we played a favorite board game (we're geeks I know), watched movies, ate ice cream from Haagen Daaz & Cold Stone, went running along the beach in the morning (to burn off the calories from the ice cream) and just had a great time relaxing without any responsibilities.

We were missing the kids like crazy OF COURSE and were so excited to see them after a long flight home on Sunday. Andy and Jack had tons of fun with Grandma and Grandpa Graham and enjoyed their visitors throughout the week (Aunt Marianne and Ben who came down for the week, Uncle Ryan who came for the weekend, Great Grandma and Grandpa Dickson, Uncle Brad, Aunt Karissa, Kailey, Kendall, Great Aunt Toni and Great Uncle Tom, and Great Uncle Jim!) They had fun at Great Grandpa Dickson's birthday party on Saturday too. And to make matters even better, Andy got potty trained while we were gone and is now in underwear both day and night! He only had one accident the entire time we were gone, and he did great today at school!! Jack's sleeping at night could have been better, but he's teething so hopefully he'll start sleeping better soon. I'll update the post with Jack and Andy pictures from the week later. Jack has his 9 month doctor appointment on Wednesday, so we'll see how he checks out!

Here are some pictures from our trip to Maui!
