Happy 2 Month Birthday Jack!

Jack is 2 months old today! His 2 month check-up isn't for another week or 2, but that's okay because he has to get about 5 shots! I don't mind if he doesn't get those right on his 2 month birrthday. So I don't have his official stats, but here are a few things about Jack at 2 months:

Favorite things: Star on his activity gym that lights up and plays music right above him when he is laying on his back, watching Andy play, his mobile in his crib, taking a bath.
Key milestones: Smiling, cooing, sleeping 6 hours at a time at night, starting to reach for toys, holding head very steady when upright, lifting head off of ground when he's on his tummy.
Size: Well, I don't have his weight, but he's already comfortably in 3-6 month clothes!
Eye color: Blue
Hair color: Medium Brown
Favorite sleeping spots: While being held, in his swing, or in his carseat. We swaddle him at night and that helps him sleep much more soundly. Jack is a pretty sound sleeper:)
Least favorite things: Someone talking really loud near him or a loud toy right near him (he starts to pout), riding in the stroller while he is awake.

Here are some pictures :) The first 2 are from today (this morning, right before his nap - that's why he looks kind of sleepy!) and the 3rd picture is from 2 days ago.

Zonked out on the floor!

And a bit of info about Andrew at 2 years, 2 months! Andy is wonderful at playing independently. Here he is playing with his cars and trucks. He makes up stories and has a great imagination. He's using up to 8-10 words in a sentence and has a super vocabulary. Andy's very empathetic and worries about Jack when he is unhappy.

And here's a picture of Andy from this morning, right after breakfast - if you look closely you can see a little peanut butter on his face, I thought I cleaned all of that off! He says "Happy 2 month birthday, Jack! You're a great brother!"

The Build-A-Bear Adventure

A few of Chris's friends at work got Jack a gift card to Build-A-Bear workshop so that we could create his first teddy bear for him. We had never been there before - it's a pretty cool store! (I would have LOVED it when I was smaller and had hundreds of stuffed animals) We thought Andy could help make Jack's bear, but he was a little young yet to get excited about it. Chris and I picked out a very cute teddy bear, and because we had some extra left over on the gift card, a cheetah too. We saw them get stuffed, I put a little red heart inside each of them, Andy could have given them a bath if he had wanted to (there are little fans to spray air like a shower for them), and he could have brushed their hair. But he thought they were clean enough already, so we went straight to the naming station. Andy loved sitting at the computers with us while we officially named the animals and made birth certificates for them. Jack was awake and happy while we were at the store too.

So, we're happy to announce that Jack has a teddy bear named Shaun. (A little history behind the name: Andy got his favorite teddy bear about a year ago that I named Gus, after a character on one of my favorite tv shows Psych. Well, Shaun is the other main character on that show, so that is what Jack's bear is named now! If you haven't seen the show Psych, it is pretty good - it's a comedy detective show - new season starts on USA on July 18th I believe!) We also have a cheetah named Chase. He is supposed to be for Jack too, but Andy has taken quite a liking to him. He gave him a little blanket inside his Build a Bear "house" and had Chase come downstairs with him to play. He's been giving Chase hugs and sitting on the couch with him, so I think Chase may be playing with Andy more than Jack for awhile at least :)

Jack and Andy's New Baby Cousin

Ryan and Marianne's baby was born today! They named him Benjamin Wayne Graham and he was born at 3:13am on July 8th 2008. He weighed 9 lbs 7 ozs, and measured 20 inches in length. (And I thought Jack was big at 8lbs 11 ozs!) Andy and Jack can't wait to meet Ben - and Chris and I are excited to be Uncle Chris and Aunt Jenny for the first time :)
