A Fun Visit in Madison

This past weekend we drove to Madison to see Grandma Reinsel and Great Uncle Jim and Great Aunt Jan who were visiting. On Saturday we checked into our hotel (a special treat!) and then went swimming. Jack was pretty tired so didn't swim much, but Andy loved the different pools, especially the one with the water fountaints. They loved bouncing on the king size bed in the hotel room and enjoyed watching cartoons in the morning. On Saturday night, we celebrated Jack's birthday with some delicious pizza and ice cream cake. Jack kept trying to lick off the frosting, and got a little upset when we started cutting his big cake into pieces! I guess he thought it looked pretty good whole! The boys then watched a new Backyardigans DVD (one of Jack's b-day presents) while we visited and watched the hockey game.

On Sunday we went to the Madison zoo which was a perfect activity for the day. It was nice and sunny, and the animals were all pretty active. Favorites were: the turtles, the polar bear, the tiger which got really close to the kids, and the giraffes. We then had some chinese food from our favorite place for lunch and then headed home. Both boys were sacked out before we had driven for 10 minutes :) Jack had seemed a little grumpy and clingy to me this weekend - we didn't know why... until last night when I looked inside his mouth and saw one of his 2-year molars half way through his gum. He's teething and isn't in the best mood I guess. Hopefully they will come through quickly! Anyways it was great to see everyone - Hopefully it won't be quite so long before we see Jim and Jan again!
